2020 – Playing Differently?

We are checking alternatives!

Today we have concrete news for you:
Young Euro Classic will not take place this summer in its usual form, as concerts by major orchestras will not be possible. We deeply regret this. We continue to work on an alternative programme starting on August 1, trying to give hard-hit musicians a perspective and our audience a reason for joyful anticipation. After all, youth music and Europe continue to stand for hope for the future – and we can all use a bit of that these days, right?

We are working hard on giving these possibilities a shape and will inform you as soon as we can on the latest developments. Until then, we share the optimistic words of Willi Steul, chairman of the associating presenting the festival:
“The virus may be unpredictable; classical music, however, offers a great breadth of possibilities!”
Did you already buy your tickets for YEC 2020?
For tickets already purchased, concertgoers may receive a refund or a credit, or they may donate the value of the tickets. By accepting a credit or donating the value of the tickets, you support our attempts to develop an alternate programme and the planning of next season. We would be delighted if you were to choose one of these options.
For reasons of data protection, as a festival we do not have access to the customer data of Ticketmaster and the Konzerthaus ticket office. Therefore, please email us by May 15 to informing us if you would like a credit or to donate your tickets. This will also enable us to write to you personally once we offer a new and alternate programme.
Respond now
If you wish to return your tickets, please note the following: all customers who purchased their tickets online via Ticketmaster or the Konzerthaus will be contacted directly by these companies with information on what to do for a return and refund of tickets. Unfortunately, we must ask all those who purchased their tickets via other ticket sales points to contact those sales points directly by email and ask for a refund.
Tomorrow’s musicians – here for you today!
Finally, a little remedy against the cancellation blues: when the lockdown started several weeks ago, we asked the orchestras scheduled to perform in this year’s festival to send us some “Tunes for Sanity” – melodies their musicians found calming and optimistic. Of course the orchestras responded; first to go is a flutist from Orkester Norden. Our festival motto is “Tomorrow’s musicians today” – now it is “Tomorrow’s musicians – here for you today”. Enjoy
